Appetizers

As always, variety is the spice of life. Look over these recipes and consider making 2 or more of them to offer a choice to your cocktail party or pre-dinner guests. Think about using savory bagels- cheese, onion, sesame or poppy seed.

 

 

 

Highland Toast Points

Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:
One pre-sliced fresh or previously frozen bagel
3 tablespoons crumbled Swiss cheese
7 small green olives, pitted
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
2 tablespoons hot sauce

Preparation:
Pre-heat oven to 350º
Mix all ingredients except bagel in a small bowl
Toast 2 bagel halves
Slicer each half and toast lightly again
Spread out 4 bagel slices on a baking sheet and cover with mixture
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from oven, cool slightly and cut each slice into 8 pieces
Serve as crackers or with a dip


Minced Onion Italiano
Makes: 32 chips from 1 bagel


Ingredients:
One pre-sliced fresh or previously frozen bagel
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons minced onion (white or red)
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Preparation:
Pre-heat oven to 350º
Mix all ingredients except bagel in a small bowl
Toast 2 bagel halves
Slicer each half and toast again
Spread out 4 bagel slices on a baking sheet and cover with mixture
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from oven, cool slightly and cut each slice into 8 pieces 

Yeehaw Pesto Italiano
Makes: 32 chips from 1 bagel


Ingredients:
One pre-sliced fresh or previously frozen bagel
5 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons pesto
1 teaspoon Tobasco sauce
1/4 teaspoon McCormick Lime Mojitos seasoning


Preparation:
Pre-heat oven to 350º
Mix all ingredients except bagel in a small bowl
Toast 2 bagel halves
Slicer each half and toast lightly again
Spread out 4 bagel slices on a baking sheet and cover with mixture
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from oven, cool slightly and cut each slice into 8 pieces


Mustard du Nord
Makes: 32 chips from 1 bagel


Ingredients:

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper

Pre-heat oven to 350º
Mix all ingredients except bagel in a small bowl
Toast 2 bagel halves
Slicer each half and toast lightly again
Spread out 4 bagel slices on a baking sheet and cover with mixture
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from oven, cool slightly and cut each slice into 8 pieces
